Iroha is a character from the Samurai Shodown series. She first appeared in Samurai Shodown VI and is one of the main female protagonists of the series, as well as the first non-canonical character to have her canonical debut in Samurai Shodown (2019). Iroha is very popular in Japan and has her own mobile game called Maid by Iroha. She was originally the protagonist of another game being developed for the Nintendo DS, but that game was eventually canceled. Iroha has also been added as a playable character in the Queen's Blade series, which is an extension of the fantasy game series, Lost Worlds. Furthermore, there are many figurines and other merchandise produced featuring her likeness.
In the game settings, Iroha is a crane who can transform into a Japanese maid. She loyally serves her master and regards him as the most important aspect of her life. Iroha is gentle and cheerful, with a kind heart. She does not wish to inflict violence on anyone unless it is to protect her master. She dislikes bows, rifles, and hunting traps due to past unpleasant experiences. Iroha is very afraid of exorcists, worrying that their abilities could affect her shapeshifting powers. She fights using twin butterfly swords, and relies on her speed for close-range combat. Many of her moves hint at her original form as a crane.
