Kim Hae-Ryeong (キム・ヘリョン, 김해령) is a character introduced in SNK's fighting game series *Samurai Shodown*, specifically in *Samurai Shodown Sen*. His name, appearance, origins, and personality are very similar to Kim Kaphwan. His official nickname is “the man born under the phoenix.” Due to Japanese pronunciation, his name was initially translated as “Kim Hye-Ryen.” Kim Hae-Ryeong is a Korean warrior who fights for justice, defeating many evildoers. As an emissary, he travels to Japan where he witnesses Angelica killing an assassin. Sensing the great evil surrounding her, he decides to pursue her. In his ending, he finds her but realizes that she no longer has any killing intent. Convinced that people can change for the better, Kim Hae-Ryeong leaves her and continues on his journey. Kim Hae-Ryeong’s fighting style is an amalgamation of Kim Sue Il and Kim Kaphwan's techniques, specializing in rapid attacks with a double-edged pike. His attacks are named after mythological creatures, such as the Four Divine Beasts and the Fenghuang, as well as other animals.
