Golba (ゴルバ) is a significant character in the Samurai Shodown series, first appearing in Samurai Shodown Sen. He serves as the main antagonist and final boss of that title. Golba is not from Japan but from a fictional European country called Lesphia. He is one of the sons of the King of Lesphia, exiled after a failed coup attempt to seize the throne from his brother. After his exile, he went to America, joined the Continental Army, and became a veteran of the American Revolutionary War. Golba transforms his experience in war into a belief that powerful nations can pose a threat to Europe. To protect his homeland and strengthen its military force, he attempts to conquer Europe. He is also the leader of an assassin organization, which he used to orchestrate the murder of his niece Suzu’s parents. Golba is a gentlemanly character who, despite committing numerous crimes, believes his actions are for a righteous cause. In combat, he uses a rapier and excels at close-range, high-speed attacks, targeting the opponent’s vital points. Golba doesn't use magic or special abilities; his strength lies in his very high damage output, speed, and deep understanding of combat.
