Jinbe, also known as Jimbei, is a prominent character in the Japanese manga series One Piece. He is a whale shark fish-man, a powerful master of Fish-Man Karate, the helmsman of the Straw Hat Pirates, and a senior officer of the Straw Hat Grand Fleet. He was formerly the second captain of the Sun Pirates and a member of the Seven Warlords of the Sea. Jinbe was born in the Ryugu Kingdom and grew up in the Fish-Man District, where he trained in Fish-Man Karate from a young age. He has great respect for Whitebeard, who protected his homeland, Fish-Man Island. He was imprisoned in Impel Down and befriended Luffy, aiding him in the Summit War. Jinbe’s dream is to fulfill his former captain Fisher Tiger’s dying wish of coexistence and equality between humans and fish-men.
